Yes so do any cichlids!! My best way to get rid of them. Finally got rid of 6 3” guys for free . Put these big guys in a20g so I could catch them easier. Bought some tetras and decided to qt them with the plecos. I feed the plecos twice daily but I started losing a tetra a day. I think these plecos were eating them! Only other thing in tank is shrimp. But up new pictures, said for free and got rid of the 6. Hopefully 2 more over the weekend. No more 2 plecos in a tank!!! These guys are worse than ants!!!

Oh put them on Craig’s list a month ago with the rams. Got my first hit for the rams this week.

How big do BN need to be before I can bring 300 of them in a bucket and accidentally spill them into a tank at the LFS?

I Gotta laugh .. every one complains about how prolific they are yet the solution is simple. Don't keep males and females together. I know .. its thinking outside the box but I figure if you dont want a ton of pleco babies that should work.

its kind of like rabbits. Yep, put a male and female bunny in the same cage and pretty soon you will need a bigger cage.

Incidentally .. I wonder if you can just batch fry the babies and add them to salads like croutons. Supposedly plecos are a choice edible. If you have the space maybe grow out a batch and give this a try...

And yes.. I am kidding .. It seems like way too much work.

Oh boy.. now I am in a rabbit hole.. I hadn't realized this wss an issue with some plecos.. aka devil fish.

Unbelievable…. How humans can screw up an entire ecosystem forever. This is similar to lionfish in the Caribbean where people is looking similar ways to control the problem.

Mine don't seem to be growing very fast, but the parents aren't very big either. So maybe that's part of it. About how long for them to get to 2", Chuck? I'm getting mine out of my fry system tonight and moving them to a 75.

I took an airboat ride over Thanksgiving in Florida. While waiting in line, I noticed that every single fish in that lagoon had an aquarium origin. Nothing I saw looked native.
