Amber, do the Bamboo shrimp eat the brown (diatom) algae, too? They are really nice looking, I think I like them better than the Amanos.
Connie
This is one of my Bamboo shrimp.. he was filter feeding from the driftwood last night. I just think its so awesome when they do that. So very cool to watch.
this is after my butthead angel chased him off cause I wasn't paying attention to her.. hubby was laughing cause she kept getting in front of the camera.. brat! lol
Thanks for looking!

Connie
Connie,
I dont believe that they do. They are much different from the other shrimps being filter feeders. They filter out bits of whatever I drop in and I believe that is all they eat. I have never really researched them tho so I am not sure. I never see them eating anything else. Just filtering food out of the water.
Perhaps someone else here knows better... or perhaps I should research them lol.
I have to say tho.. I have 5 amano shrimp in there too.. and one of them is SO big.. that my husband and I have mistaken it for a bamboo shrimp a few times.

Amber,
Pretty cool stuff. Do you have those guys in the same tank with discus? Just wondering if they are compatible tank mates with discus.
Thanks,
Vince
Vince.. when I had my discus, yes they were in the tank with them 12 discus were in with them and the discus did not bother them. Now they are in with angels.
