Lovely Fish.
Great looking wilds.

How do i tell if i need to treat them with meds before releasing them from qt? It has been one week and i was going to wait 4 weeks. So far all they will eat is freeze dried black-worm. I tried mixing some pellets and flakes with their worms but they just pick out the worms. I'm feeding 1/2 a cube twice a day (once morning once evening - i soak it for about 2 minutes then break it apart as they won't touch large clumbs.
As far as I can tell so far their poop is black.

Pretty fish, anewbie! You're in a good spot to ask your discus questions! I looked at this thread when you posted it but didn't recognize your username (from ACO forum).

They mostly eat freeze dired black worm but have them eating a few small pellets. Not the best diet.
Lol.. says who? there is absolutely nothing wrong with fdbw as their main food.. In time with persistence you will get them eating other foods if you want. The important thing is getting good nutritious food into them so they can fully recover from being caught...boxed.. shipped... and reshipped or bagged. Etc.
FDBW are a great food for discus......
...disclaimer.. I sell them.... but my fish certainly dont know that...nor do my customers discus.

try to get to 1 cube per 2 adult fish per feeding.. 2 feedings per day is fine at this size but 3 would be better.. try pressing the cube to the glass. .. submerged about 6 inches.. they will learn quickly.I'm feeding 1/2 a cube twice a day (once morning once evening - i soak it for about 2 minutes then break it apart as they won't touch large clumbs.

I should probably take an updated picture; they were put in the 180 (72x24x24) last week. I'm probably under-feeding them. The current population of the aquarium includes the following (incase you see a problem):
30-40 cardinals+12 glowlight
1 1inch flash pleco (L204)
1 2inch gold nugget (018 i think but not sure)
4 discus
-
Additonal stocking to soon be added:
6 more discus (same species/size)
1 3 inch L114
-
That is the complete stocking - unless i add 4 medium size geo (probably mirabilis). My current thought is the tank is likely overstocked and i should not add the geo but feedback welcome.
Current water change is 1 gallon per hour drip system. (maybe i should up this to 2?).

Water is current 100 percent ro and ph runs around 6.5 - temp is 84 - i've discovered if the temp drops below 82 these discus get very angry at me - not sure because everything i read suggest 82 or even 80 would be fine with them but they definitely don't like it below 82.
picture of current aquarium with first 4:

Aquarium with all 10 of them in there; kind of crowded but the room doesn't have room for a 10 footer

It looks really nice. I wouldn't say its overstocked. Question though.. Is there a reason why you opted for no background? Seems it would display better with one.

Looks nice, anewbie! I don't think it's overstocked, especially with proper maintenance.
Here is an updated picture;
None have died and they ahve all quieted down - i've reduced the temp to 82ish and they seem to have tolerated it without complaints - plants are growing quite well the a. cripus in the picture has grown 8 inches in height the past 4 months and have quite a few new leaves:
