    Default Tap water remin

So I’ve come to the conclusion that remineralising ro water by cutting with tap water will be the best option for me, however I have some questions.

    1. Is it hard to keep pH and GH and KH stable when using this remineralisation method? I know it’s hard to keep them stable when using buffers so I was wondering if it’s the same with these.

    2. Are discus sensitive to GH swings in the same way that they are to pH swings?

    3. Will I still need to age the ro / tap mix before adding it to my tank? When I age my tap water normal for 24 hours it goes from 7.5ish to roughly 8.7.

    4. Once I’ve done some tested and found a good ratio of tap to ro, will I be okay to stick with that ratio or will it ever change based on some certain factors?

    5. I was thinking just before I add the water into the aquarium I will always make sure the pH is what it needs to be, will this be necessary for GH and KH also?

    6. This kinda links to the previous question but when trying to achieve a certain pH of the new water, should I try to match it to the tank or every other new mix of water I’ve used in every water change? Because there may be somethings affecting pH in the tank which makes it different from the new water. Keep in mind discus.

Any answers are appreciated. Thanks 🙂

I mixed my tap with RO for my rams and discus.
    I chased only one number.
    TDS.
Get a TDS meter and never look back.
You want around 100TDS or under for the fish to be happy.
    I used this meter https://www.amazon.com/HM-Digital-TD.../dp/B000VTQM70
Hopefully others will agree and this will be easier for you.

I totally agree with you Tom. I personally add enough tap to target a TDS of 80. Seems to be a great sweet spot for wild discus especially for breeding I let the rest of it fall where it falls, even ph. Nothing better then KISS.
