I wish you could find some of these in USA. I am pretty sure all these high end fish go to Europe and Japan markets.
They pay insane prices for quality fish.
@Al, did you see the Altum angels in the other videos? Beautiful massive adult fish, it does not say if they are wild or F1.

I have always liked the wild Altums
Gorgeous fish! Altum Spot have some really beautiful display tanks too, I love watching their videos for inspiration. If only I could... Out of curiosity, how much would fish like these cost?
Quick video of my altum tank. I've kept wild and F1 altums and you can't tell them apart. A nickel size fish will run $60 - $110, so they're cheaper than discus. The smallest ones in the video are about silver dollar size. The large ones are ~13" tall. I have them in a 110, which is 36" deep. I love how the tail fin is fully expanded and erect.
I raise them like discus, with a barebottom tank, sponge filters and lots of water changes. They're fed primarily frozen mysis, but readily take VibraBites and Bug Bites. There are two adult Manacapurus in the video with beautiful brown shoulders. These are wild caught Pterophyllum scalare, but they grow much bigger than domestic strains. They respond well to high aeration and are distinctly less happy without a wavemaker in the tank.
At my age, everything is irritating.
Beautiful fish! I wanted to have a tank with album for awhile, but discus have been in my main tank.
They are a bit more difficult to find (good quality I mean). Have you tried to keep the, together?
I have kept altums and discus together, although there's no interaction between the two species. Many specialty discus shops in Asia keep these two species in their show tanks together without any problems. I have since separated the two because discus do better in longer tanks while altums are more appropriate for taller tanks. My adult discus enjoy life in a 125 while the altums live in a 110 (4' wide, 36" deep). If I had a 220, I could reconsider.
At my age, everything is irritating.
Really nice Willie. Thx for sharing. I don’t have a FB acct so I can’t watch the other vids connected to this thread
Ha! @Willie you are pushing me over the hump with the Altum. I have a 270G, 36 deep tank, that I am sure can accommodate few more fish.
Dang it.
Beautiful fish Willie, Would love to have them in my 120 gallon tank
@Scott, I sent the video originally but Willie is spreading the altum bug.
@Willie, any supplier recommendations for F1 altums? Thx
