Hi, I am soon going to get some discus. I tested my water and I have a GH of 307ppm and a KH of 180. Is this way too hard for the discus? They are tank bred and of the stendker variety. I am going to get them from Devotedly Discus (UK based) if anyone would like more info. Note I am just getting them for display and not breeding. Thanks
Hi Charlie,
From Devotedly Discus website..

KH 180 ppm is 10 dKhTo keep Stendker Discus most of us in the UK will have the water we need straight out the tap, no need to soften it, no need to adjust the pH, just clean it up and use it. The fish are bred in soft-water, but raised in German tap water and have been so since 1966. You can of course if you live in a soft water area or want to use RO water also keep them in soft water. Stendker Discus will acclimatise to any ph between 5 and 8, 7 to 7.5 is perfect.
In the Stendker Hatchery the water they use has the following values, 15 dGh, 8 dKh, ph 7, conductivity 800 µS and temperature 30-C
GH 307 PPM IS 17dGH
For Stendker lines you should be fine.
Hope to see you post some pics of your new Discus.
