Jim. Be very careful. When they work on lines they flush them with chemicals. Many have lost discus. I would wait a few day to wc .
Yesterday the water dept did some work on my street and had to shut down the water. Upon it coming back on I had a tremendous amount of air in my water lines and then slightly dirty water. Seeing it has a redish tint it is most likely good ol Georgia clay in the line. This morning it is greatly reduced and much clearer but still has a slight tint to it. My question is am I still good to do a WC or what should I test for to determine if it is ok? Thanks !!

Jim I think that depends on how small your town is and how good your water people are. We have seen cases where they didnt really know what the others do... they have to make it safe for people... not fish.
I have read too many horrow stories.. a few missed water changes will be ok.. just feed 1x a day if you are worried about water quality.

Good thing I read this topic last night because we had a maintenance break in the water supply this morning. I woke up early to do a water change in all 3 tanks before they shut off the water... Just wondering how soon it will be safe for the fish again. There seems to be no discolouration or sediment in the water. Just lots of air.
I used to work putting sewer and water in. Pipe repairs etc. We always put a cap full of stuff in every few pipe on a repair. That was 20+ years ago can't remember what it was but I know it was to prevent bacteria in the water line. I would wait as long as you can. Not sure how long the residue stayed in the water lines from the installation I think it was just chlorine but it was a long time ago.
Jim,
How is the water situation?
