I remember listening to Andrew at the 2012 show. He is a great speaker and funny too. I bet he will be a real hit at the 2018 show. I think discus breeding would generate a lot of interest.

NADA is very happy to announce that Andrew Soh will be a speaker at the 2018 NADA Discus Show and Convention in New Jersey this coming July. Andrew was a speaker at the 2012 Show in Atlanta and did an amazing job. He has a vast knowledge of Discus and he really enjoys sharing his knowledge with others. Andrew can talk about any discus subject and has asked us to choose a topic we would like to have him speak on. We would like you guys to tell us some ideas of what you would be interested in hearing. So lets hear them and then the Show Committee will make a decision on the topic.
Oh yeah, have you made your hotel reservation yet.................

This news just made my day!

I was not one of the fortunate that attended the 2012 Show but heard nothing but positive feedback about Andrew's talk...what comes most to mind is "Chop-Chop" so I imagined his talk was Discus Disease related.
I with Pat...Discus Breeding and Breeding conditioning should bring out a good turn-out.

I sent a couple ideas to Larry, but what it boiled down to was, what does a long-time expert like Dr. Soh want to talk about? What's he currently interested in? If he has special insights to offer on breeding, great, but it would seem to be under utilizing him to be asking for basic information. Maybe he has something to WOW us with. Perhaps details about current selective breeding processes.
There's my 2 cents.
Whatever he wants to talk about.... Will have my full attention.

Possibly a better understanding of nutritional requirements. The focus is often on protein but we know that Discus also need vegetable matter, what's the food pyramid for Discus? When I throw an algae wafer in for my Pleco the Discus devour it, when I had water sprite in the tank I always saw traces of it in feces under the microscope.
I would think there's a lot more to it than meat and veggies for optimum health.
