My bill has gone from around 25.00 a month years ago when I only had about 10 tanks to $50 a month how that I'm afraid to count how many gallons of tanks I running. I keep track of what my cost and bring in. I just guess, but every month I charge my entire water bill to the fish. I split the electric bill with them. They use more that I in the winter and less in the summer.

0.6 dollars per 250 gallons (1000 liters) of water is the price for water in my city .
Having only one 65 G. discus growout tank in my home I end up wasting about 1200 gallons of water a month(40 g of water per day ) which costs me approx. 3 dollars a month .
I'm more scared of the electicity bills though .
I always wondered how much electricity my 300 w heater generates per month and I will consider DK Harry's idea and putting an electricity meter on my heater power socket .

At this point, I think I would rather not know about the electricity ...I still can just blame the hair dryer.

Beauty of having a well pump, i pay roughly 12 cents per KWH. Well pump produces roughly 22gpm, Pump runs 12 amp 240v line for 2880 watts, or 2.88 kw. If you run for an hour you get 2.88 KWH, or running the pump for 1 hour cost .3456$. 22*60= 1320, so 1320 gallons cost me 35 cents haha. even if you add in average life span of a pump and the cost of replacement it only goes up by .01 per hour. =)

Some people here have a few million tanks in their fish room, multiply that by the same number or heater (assuming no insulate room) let some 1 else do the match or I will have a nightmare
