Tony,
What an incredible story, how you came to the US and came into the world of discus. Stories like yours make me thankful to have been born in a peaceful country. I have several friends who have had similar journeys as yours, and I truly cannot imagine the struggle of the trek and being apart from your family.
I think it is interesting what you said about how people may move away from discus keeping as our world changes to go go go. I think in the very moment as I read your story I realized what keeps me into this hobby thus far is that it is very different than the on demand/facebook/instagram/go go go generation. Discus keeping takes hard work, time and patience which are things that are rare today but values that I was raised with. I think there is a satisfying challenge to raising these beautiful but challenging fish.
You have done a great job raising some beautiful fish! I hope to get as half as far as you. Thanks to you and the mods for sharing! Best of luck to you in your future ventures and discus keeping!
Happy water changing,
Lea
Thank you Eric.
I am sure you'll get as far as you want, just you want it or not. Like i said, If I can do it everyone can do it. This hobby helps me relax, patience, responsible, discipline and make lot of friends. I know we're so busy to work for living, so quick water change system and bare bottom will help a lot. I also know there are so many things out there that i can do instead of water changes.
thanks for sharing, good story.
p.s. i see room in the garage for more tanks, you can put a whole new isle ; )
Jack, I'm very happy for now. Due to busy schedule, time won't allow me. Wait until I hit jackpot, I'll fill up my garage lol
