    Default WC home water filtration

I have a 90 gal tank with 10 discus, 2 ottos, 4 guppies. I do a 20% water change daily. i have two 25 gallon plastic container to age my water and have refill this container every time i make a WC. I'm using tap water. My PH is 7.0-7.2

My question is can i substitute my 25 gal plastic container to a two stage home water filtration, one with 5 microns & one with activated carbon. Isn't it that we only age water in order to remove chlorine from our tap water. this will also give me more space and save time refilling the water containers.

Any comment/suggestion is most welcome. Tnxs

    alexbel,

I age my water because it stabilizes the PH. My water contains an excess of CO2. When it ages, some of the CO2 is released and the PH rises from 8.2 to 8.6. There's no chlorine in my water, but most people I know use Prime or similar product to neutralize chlorine.

    Hope this helps,

    Paul

No, it is all about contact time, one activated carbon stage is not enough. If anything the water at a really low GPS flow so you're not gonna save any time
