I just wanted to show the growth on my discus.
I have had this group since February.
In the first several months I fed beefheart, tetrabits, red wigglers and hikari frozen blood worms, in the past several months I have fed mainly tetrabits and the bloodworms. (not had time to prepare beefheart) I use eheim feeders for tetrabits, set to 2 times daily. I feed the bloodworms morning and night.
Wc's in the first several months were 50%/day.
there were 4 green turks in a 50 gallon tank.
In February they were about 3 inches and maybe 3 months old? I bought them from Al.
IN the past several months, work is very busy, long days and weeks, plus out of town...
wc's have been every day to every 3 days max.
I am very happy with there growth during all this time. A couple have developed into very nice discus, at least in my unexpert eyes.
I share this only to show that in my opinion, keeping the bioload (less fish in more space and volume of water) is of great value. this helps them grow and keeps them healthy, even when I can't keep the wc's to daily as I like to do.
Now I have moved 2 of the largest ones to my 75 gallon which houses 4 wild browns and one blue turk.
Here I have been keeping wc's to every one day, sometimes every 2 days (then I do a 75% + WC)
Anyway, just thought I would share my experience.
the first pic is not too good, but it shows the size in February.
The second and third pics are of 2 of the green turks taken this morning. that second pic is now the largest of all my discus. the pics are not good as my camera is not good and I am not a good photographer but in person they are magnificent and I like them
