Default The Horses of Gypsy Vanner Gold Farm

The horses of Gypsy Vanner Gold Farm are a small draft horse used by the gypsies to pull their wagons. They are bred at this farm and my camera club goes there as a field trip. The farm opens early for our group and the first event is they take one horse and it gets a two hour bath and the mane is upbraided so when the horse runs the mane and feathers about the feet goes everywhere. This is Liz, she is a five year old mare and our first victim lol.

Head shots of Liz. Trick is to get her eye which can be different with all that mane.

Here are some running shots of Liz. When she was released in their large pasture she was ready to go. Not hanging with all those photographers. I used a shutter speed of 1/100 to try and show speed in the photos. I wanted the head and body somewhat sharp with the feet and tail to have a feeling of motion.

They are flashy as all get-out, but if I were able to have another horse it would be a Halflinger. They were developed in Austria as small draft horses but have been selectively bred so now you can see them as cattle horses, jumpers, dressage, as well as pleasure horses. https://www.google.com/search?q=hafl...hrome&ie=UTF-8

They are gorgeous Liz If I got another horse I would be tempted to get a Florida mustang (my dad called them Marsh Tacky) which is a small gaited horse of Spanish descent.

Feeling my age Liz and a gaited horse doesn't bounce you around quite as much.

Thank you Jay Do you have a Belgian? Farrier trips would be cheaper with the Gypsy Vanners
