Well talking to photographer yesterday he told me the Tamron company is on the island and they will recalibrate your lens. Called up and am going to drop off the 150-600 and my camera. They said they will match them up to each other . Sounds good to me. Been using a monopole and still not seeing the results of the 400. Yes it’s heavy but I’ve been carrying it so much I’ve grown used to it. Some shots from yesterday.IMG_0865.jpgIMG_0872.jpgIMG_0867.jpgIMG_0866.jpg. Put up some bird feeders a week ago and now I’ve got about 20 sparrow regulars and some other birds starting to join in. IMG_1101.jpgDSC_4842.jpg. Looking at these 2 I thought they were the same type. Both black birds. Camera shows the difference . Nice colors on the Grackle DSC_4835.jpg even the Mourning dove came over to see what’s going on .DSC_4780.jpg

Nice set and I do believe both black birds are indeed Black birds. Note the white rim on the eye Tom. Al can confirm, he is great with bird ids.

Its a good idea to have tamron look at it. The lens may have been dropped.

incidentally you also have the ability to adjust the autofocus of the camera in body per lens. Some lens on cameras need some minor autofocus adjustments ..others work right out of the box.

Cow birds are parasitic nesters, Tom. We had a house finch nest above one of our front lights last year and a cow bird egg showed up. Unfortunately, something wiped the nest out and maybe the mother with them. If you've got any open birds nests take a look for some really faint blue colored speckled eggs that stand out a bit.

    That Grackle has great iridescence!

have fun with that when you are trying to ID Warblers, sparrows, birds in flight, fall migrants . etc.

but heres a tip for you.. Download to your phone "Merlin App". It will help with ID of what you see and even Id the birds you can't see by the songs.

Its Hard to tell Tom.. could be an autofocus issue.. If it were me I would spend sometime shooting that lens at the same stationary object at various distances.. Can it focus clearly at 15 feet? 30feet ? 60 feet? etc. repeat at various lens lengths .. 150 mm -600mm

next try the lens in manual mode. If the lens has an auto focus issue it will still focus manually fine. just switch everything to manual and see if you can get better shots
