    Default 90 Gallon Acrylic Build

Sorry for posting this after the build is mostly done but here I go.

I been looking to start replacing my glass aquariums with acrylic and I started with the 125 gallon clear for life that I purchased new and built the stand.
So I was looking in the Market Place in FB and I found a perfect tank that had a stand and canopy. I only wanted the tank since I had a stand that would fit so I made him an offer but he rejected it. The tank was listed for weeks so once in a while I would contact him to tell him I was still interested. Finally after more than a month we came to an agreed price and I picked it up.

I did a little polishing painted the bottom white and manufactured some lids.

I set it up and started to cycle with my FX4 and very quickly it was cycled.

Now I started to have fears about the stand that I used on my 75 gallon glass and it’s only rated up to 75 gallons. So I decided to build my own that would hold the 90 gallon plus some. So here we go again with a full build with a wet dry sump and maybe with more efficient heater.

So getting getting started with the frame. All 2x4's and a little over built and heavy but makes me feel better.

Hey Chuck just another idea. Look on marketplace for buffet tables. Any made by good companies (no ikea) were very strong and made from solid wood. Much better than most big box stands. Some may need a little extra support. But these things were made strong and the best part is they’re cheap! Seems nobody want them. Here my 90 on an Ethan Allen buffet from the 70s2A7740E8-21CE-4493-A8D1-925029825060.jpg. Been on there since 19 and been moved about4 times with sliders on the bottom and enough water to leave the fish in.

    Looks very nice, Chuck!

Unrelated, but how big are the tanks that you have on the wire racks to the right in the picture? 29?

Chuck, I am with you on building your own stands since you have full control on how strong you want to make them. I always build my own stands for the last 40 years. You stand looks awesome looking forward to the finished product.

That one is a 29 gallon and I usually can have a 20 gallon long on the bottom shelf. I do put 1/2" plywood under the tank to keep it straight.

Oh, that's sweet. Also like that you put in some lighting.

So last weekend I moved the fish from the 75 Gallon tank to the 90 plus 3 rainbow from the 125 gallon. My marlboro lost his mate a month ago so he is on his own for now until I move him to the larger tank with some friends.
Also got the new heater for the 125 Gallon tank and moved the old one to the 90 both are very efficient Hygger heaters.

Great job Chuck. Very nice work on the stand construction, it looks amazing! What is the flow rate of your return pump? I have a twin conjoined sumps on my 500gal tank but the wet/dry tower is a pain to access for cleaning. Is it easy to access the bottom piece of black foam for cleaning on your sump? What are your plans fish wise? Great thread mate!

Edit; you posted the pic with fish whilst I was writing

I transferer the fish from my 75 gallon plus not sure what I will be adding. My Marlboro will moving to my 125 soon or just a matter of time. I have a black foam on top of the roll so I can try to keep as clean as possible. The bottom foam will be a wile till it need cleaning.
