    Default New Tropical pond build

I posted this elsewhere but for the contest; Added a small Greenhouse [about 7x15'] attached to my shed/mancave/gym] 12x 17'. Bought a small [125gallon] preformed pond on Facebook marketplace for $40. Filled with no leaks. Added some plants and small Tropical's [zebra danios, cory cats, halfbeaks, neons and cardinals]. My goal is to keep discus with other Tropicals. Heating [and cooling] will be my main issue. Currently
running a small electric heater and a wood stove. Stove works good but too much work for Jan and Feb. Will be putting in a 2400btu mini split heater/a/c unit next week. Live on Long Island, zone 7 so summer heat will have to be delt with. Costs are getting crazy, hope i can complete this project.

Thanks guys one thing i've found is most Tropicals don't show well in a pond [duh]. The zebra danios and normal white clouds are invisible. However the glow danios and golden white clouds look amazing. I was never a fan of the 'glo' fish but i'm changing my mind. They even have glo cories now.

I know i swore i'd never own them but i've only had the pond running for a week and i'm sick of people asking me 'where are the fish?'. I suspect we'll see humans glowing soon.

Lol no no no just their hair!! Please don’t put any ideas out there!!
Had a pair of glo tetras some years back. My wife made me buy them for her. They were actually good fish. Live long life’s. At first I thought they’d be dead in a month or so. But they lived over 5 years. Went from hating them to hand feeding and sorry when they died off. They were purple! If the wife asked i’d get more.

They were about 3.5-4.5. I liked the look of the melons more than the tigers. Got to say I find CC hit or miss. But Fri it had lots of fish. And all new plants. Shrimp also. The shrimp wall was full. There’s a shop in Brooklyn that get in really nice discus about 2-3x a year. Real nice and they sell out fast. South river aquarium.

There's a guy who works there, Dominick that used to have the best place on LI, can't remember the name, it was in Freeport. He had to move when the Lottery or OTB] revoked his lease and took over the building. He opened a store in Babylon but it wasn't the same.

Ok today i added a 'smoke' generator [an atomizer?] to the build. Cost $40. works good but i have to adjust its height in the waterfall. Also added a 24k Diakin Mini-Split heat/ac unit to shed. Need to better insulate Greenhouse but i'm ready for winter. Heres a bad pic of smoker.
