Re: Weird spot on forehead...
I'm about halfway done and I think the wounds seem to be getting better. Though I don't know what to expect the solid turq's face to look like when it's "healed". Will he always have the hole or will it kind of fill back in a little? It appears at least a bit smaller now. If his reluctance to show that side of his body is not something new it's no wonder it took me so long to see it because he just plain will not turn that way almost at all.
The blue diamond (original one I had a question about) seems to be doing well, the spot on that one is absolutely smaller. I think tonight was dose #6 of 10. The blue diamond had some poop with thread-like stuff hanging out of it. I've seen this before shortly after worming and thought that maybe it passed a bunch of dead worms. I tried to get it off of the fish so I could look at it under the microscope and didn't have great luck. It's passing normal looking poop otherwise.
Re: Weird spot on forehead...
Jacob that the holes are shrinking is a good sign. Eventually they will shrink in most cases there will be no sign of scarring... but it takes a long time to heal large holes.. definitely keep up what you are doing.
Re: Weird spot on forehead...
Last night was dose #10, I'm planning on keeping up with 90% water changes nightly in the near-term. Should I keep dosing for a bit longer or call it good? It has been the recommended 10 day course, so I suppose I should stop.
The one with the biggest hole is looking significantly better. The blue diamond's spot is smaller and no longer has anything oozing out of it.

The dark area around the edge of the hole seems to be new flesh "closing up" where the hole is. That's all new growth that was not there before the kanamycin treatment.

It hasn't increased in size, but this white spot thing was not there until this morning (or maybe yesterday, I didn't do a WC yesterday and didn't really pay much attention to them).
Fish is behaving totally normally, eager to the food, happy to see me. Being friendly and all that. I haven't tested the water, but I will do that and report back if anything is abnormal. Normally the tank is 0-10 nitrates, zero everything else.

Sensory pits of some sort, though that's all I really know.
Re: Weird spot on forehead...
Unfortunately, this hasn't progressed and has actually slid back a bit. The hole was closed or nearly closed and it is opening back up again. I haven't stopped the water changes. I have a UV sterilizer on the way (for totally separate reasons), would that be worth hooking up?
Any other antibiotic suggestions? Give them another round?

Jacob can post some pics?

The second picture if it shows it well enough, you can see the little lighter colored area which is the "open" part. This was actively closing while kanamycin was being dosed. It was nearly closed at the end of the treatment which was not quite a week ago.
Maybe I just caught it from a 'worse' angle. I've been checking multiple times a day and it seems like it's going back the other direction.

Also.. question. will they eat flakes?

Re: Weird spot on forehead...
Blue diamond looks the same. Spot still there.
They do eat flake. Or at least the colbalt "discus" flakes.
