That should have started healing by now.. If you can post a pic it would help to how it is but I think its time for antibiotics. You are same state as Jehmco.com they sell maracyn 2 and nitrifurazone .. either are a good choice to try. You can also maracyn 2 on amazon.
Kanamycin is sold on Amazon as kanaplex also at lfs.
And seachems polyguard is another option found at lfs and amazon.
I'll try to get a pic to post. I discussed with my LFS, they recommended a dip in Seachem MetroPlex. I did 1hr dips for 3 days in a row. I finished that treatment on Tues.(Oct 10th) Hole is no better, actually appears to have gotten bigger. He is also holding his fins in some. He does seem to be showing some interest in food, but not aggressively eating the way he used to. I think he is picking up food that falls to him rather than going after it. I am thinking of isolating him and treating with API E.M. Erythromycin. What are your thoughts? I'm thinking the Erythromycin because of the closed fins and what is now an open sore, basically.
I'm sorry. This was bad advice.. probably coming from the idea that this is "hole in the head" and its caused by hexamita which is treated by metronidazole... What you have is definitely not this.Quote:

The hole size has grown by the looks of it and the fins are looking ragged. Though erythromycin is good for somethings this usually isnt one of them
A better choice would kanamycin(kanaplex) minocycline(maracyn 2), or nitrofurazone. Another possible option would be doxycycline availible in API Fin Body Cure.
If you use maracyn 2 (minocycline) and want to hedge your bets.. it can be dosed with Maracyn (erythromycin).. they work well together.
What ever you use.. do large waterchanges before dosing..these all usually knock back your biofilter.
Do you recommend any of these meds over the other?
Kanamycin is the most readily absorbed but is expensive... its very broad spectrum. .. next would be minocycline.. well absorbed and broad spectrum. Those are usually a good choice.

Is this the correct med?
Thats the most common one out there... Its not pure Kanamycin but it usually works...

I’m currently isolating this fish in a separate tank for treatment. I do have 4 discus that have been in quarantine and are now ready to go into the display. Any thoughts on introducing them at this time? The other fish in the display tank show no signs of any illness.
I think it would probably be ok if the other fish in the tank are fine, but its hard to be sure. I think if you have to do that because of space issues its a low risk. Personally I would feel better if the sick fish responds and starts to get better first.
They can stay in quarantine for now. I don’t have any new fish that need to go in there. I hold off for now
