Its always a good idea to float your fish before adding them to a tank. It lets them come to the same temperature as the tank. Less chance of shock.

Less damage and stress.. just float and dump them in. :) .

Being practical here guessing that is a 10 gallon tank which full weighs about 80 plus pounds so guessing you emptied the tank some prior to lifting it into the larger tank? Sorry, engineer in me is strong :)
