I was sitting around today and decided that I would post a short video of the fish house. My good buddy Jim had vrought me a new HD sports camera for filming races but I don't think he will mind that I used it here...LOL. Since we are all friends I did not bother to edit it at all. When I started with this remake there was not a ceiling to the building. It went all the way up to the rafters. Once I had the ceiling in and the storage water room built I pulled all of the insolation down from the rafters and put it on top of the ceiling. I also put about 12 inches of blown in insolation on top of that. Hopefully it will really cut down on my heating bill this winter.

Awesome. Love the one drilled hole in the tanks for draining and filling and love the water storage tanks up top :)

Very nice John, looks much bigger inside than from the outside I notice. What kind of ceiling, attic floor do you have to hold up all that water storage weight? I envy you folks with fishrooms, my "fishroom" is our living room and dining room.

Thanks folks. Barb before I put the wall up to separate the workshop it was 900 sq. ft. With the wall I would guess about 700. There are 16 4 X 6 post and 3 beams made out of 9 2 X 10 with OSB between them. It seems to be plent stout.

Not sure why the "link picture" looks so crunched up though.

Looks like you combined my two favorite things as well. Discus and archery. I saw the bow case on the floor. I can shoot about 18 yards in the basement/fishcave and often shoot while I'm watching a tank fill or empty. Nice fish house by the way.

LOL...Your correct Pat.

Northwoods you are also correct. We live to bow hunt. We have 12 acres here at the house so we have plenty of room to shoot. I almost went to the farm on Saturday to try for a real hog but decided against it.

Great job John!
I am sure it will be up and running in no time...love the space you have to work in as well.
You will notice a big difference in heating but doing what you did...I added a ceiling in the new area and use 4" of polyiso thick commenrial roof insulation on the ceiling and 2" think on the walls...place is like a sauna!!!! The heater hasnt come on at all yet! Summer time down South is no problem...I am interested in seeing what happens in the winter....

All the best

-johnI mentioned in a different thread but don't know if you saw it,John, but before we were married,my wife made Il. state champ one year. She said one of the coolest things that ever happened to her was when she was in her tree stand,an owl tried to land on her.

Bill that is what non hunter don't always understand. Its not just about killing the animal. 99% of it is the enjoyment that being outdoor brings.

John,My wife and I were talking, and I might have missed this in previous threads, even last year with your drought.Do you cool/or heat. We're hitting 100+,saw Texas as a whole in the upper 90's.What do you do to maintain temp?

John_Nicholson

I heat the building during the winter, during the summer I just leave the windows open and some fans running.

My daughter has a thing for pigs, bugged me to death wanting one while growing up. I said NO, they root up the pastures and I just flat didn't want a pig. Told her to wait until she is an adult. She still does not have a pig...or a tattoo for that manner.

We used to have neighbors (in a subdivision) with pot bellied pigs. They would get loose and animal control would chase them all over. It was pretty funny.
