They two have been acting lovey dovey for the last couple of days and I kinda thought they might have a thing going and sure a enough this morning I woke to eggs on my swords! Only a month in the tank and the 8 Discus I've started with have paired up, I'm super happy. Whether or not this batch of eggs turns out at least I know that they will keep trying. I'm not going to remove them from the tank, but if there's anything I can do to make conditions even better please let me know. Wow, are they protective ...the other Discus don't dare come on this side of the tank. Thank god the tank is big enogh so even if they have to stay in the middle and to the right they'll be ok. I feed them on the opposite side as well so that will keep the peace I hope.

Thx, Pat

How long does it normally take for the eggs to start seeing life?

Congats. If the eggs are fertile they should hatch about 48 hours. Good Luck! Its exciting to have a breeding pair.

Scott, glad you could answer that. I couldn't but figured it was a couple of days.

generally 2-3 days and you should see some black spots. If you look really close you will see the tails. Really cool huh?

I usually have wrigglers between 48 - 60 hrs. Hopefully parents wont eat and they are fertilized. The parents may move them to another location once they hatch.

Great looking pair of discus. I wish you success with the eggs. It looks like a nice tight grouping of eggs, so hopefully the male did his job correctly.
