backround color

i have some blue diamonds that are my first shot at raising discus.
they have grown well but are not huge. i have had them in a dark tank for a while and thier color is pretty dark. i want to set up a new tank for them and im thinking of lightening up the backround color. i have had some bright light on them sometimes and they do turn a softer blue but not like the other diamonds ive seen. they are not dark from stress just thier color is a very dark blue.
could anyone tell me what is the best color backround for blue diamonds.
im quite proud of my not so perfect discus and its time to put them on diplay in my shop, and get some new ones to put in the growout tank they are in.(that is realy my motive, getting new discus.)

blue works for me. get krylon (sp?) brand outdoor paint from any hardware store or wal-mart and paint the back of the tank. I paint sides and bottom as well.
