sitting in the bubbles

Why does one of my fish every once in a while put his tail in the bubbles of my sponge filter. He seems to back up and flutter his tail in the bubbles.

I thought I was the only one that had a discus that does this ! I have a red melon , that guards the air bubbles coming from the air stone. And actually runs the other fish away from them!!
