I hear people say ohhhh I got about 100 to 150 egg spawn. I wounder how accurate people really are at guessing. Lets find out, in 3 or 4 days i'll post the answer. :)

Oh come on Jim. I think the picture cut off the bottom. Now I'll never be able to guestimate how may eggs there are. ;D

I say btwn 300-400....i gave up after counting 150 of them....that's a big spawn...closer to 300 than 400 though...

Lol Jeff guess how many in the pic. I have 4 75's and 6 29's now. So I'm done buying tanks for a while lol. May be 1 more, a 125 would be it though. :) :)

I'd say there are about 556. Just a rough guess. ;D Of course, it looks like some of them didn't get in the picture. How in the world do you get that many? What are you feeding your fish to condition them before spawning? The most I have gotten so far is about 120. The average spawn doesn't look like a lot till you go to counting them.

Ok all drum roll please.......................................552 eggs there. Can you believe it, in the begining I would have said 200. :) Jim & Diane ;)

Lol all Rich they get Beefheart, Live Black worms, Tetra color bites, Frozen Bloodworms, and Frozen Brine shrimp. While spawing they get only Black worms every other day :) Jim & Diane :)

A very good topic!

I have always thought that most people tend to underestimate the number of eggs and small fries. It reminds me of the single batch of angelfish I have ever raised. After free-swimming I estimated the number to be about 300. All my friends told me that was very optimistic. I was pleasantly surprised when 1,050(!) of them reached market-size (it was a lot of work, though, to feed them and change 90 % of the water twice a day).
