You could probably get away with a 55 but if you have the extra cash, I'd go with at least the 75. That gives you a bit more room for the plants and stuff and the discus should still have plenty of room to move around.

A BIG +1 You'll read time after time here how much better discus seem to do with the extra 6 inches the 75 gives. Wish my 55 was a 75 plenty of times.

What are the other tanks that are 48" long? Are they the 55, 75, 90, and 120 gallons tanks which are 48" long?

Those are all the same length & height, but increased depths (front to rear), right?

55 is 12" deep, 75, 90, 110 are all 48 long by 18 deep and just get taller

When I am unsure on dimensions, I refer to the list at Glass Cages (http://www.glasscages.com/?sAction=ViewCat&lCatID=2) for possibilities in my desired length.

Good luck!

I always go to my local manufacturer's site, Aqueon. :D
